Throughout Ellie's life, her decisions have been made based on theory, scientific analysis, and solid proof. She says she has always been searching for the reasons why we are here on Earth...what our purpose is in life. Her career has been ridiculed because of her beliefs which solely rely on science and nothing else, but she still stays firm in her beliefs. She even makes the comment, "You're saying Science killed God. What if Science just proved that God never existed in the first place?"
